Happy April Fool's Day

I came across this on the internet:


Poor Robin's Almanac for 1790: -

The first of April, some do say

Is set apart for All Fools' Day;

But why the people call it so

Nor I, nor they themselves, do know,

But on this day are people sent

On purpose for pure merriment!

And immediately thought of a far better version, if I may be so bold:

The first of April, some do say

Is set apart for All Fools' Day;

But why the people call it so

Nor I, nor they themselves, do know,

But on this day the biggest fools are sent:

To sit on their fattened butts in parliament!
